Logic Pro & Privacy

Apple collects a variety of data, some of which is associated with your Apple Account. You can limit the use of certain analytics data by going to Settings > Apps > Logic Pro.
 

Logic Pro is designed to protect your information and enable you to choose what you share.

  • When you open Logic Pro, Apple collects insights about the session length, app version, device type, country code, random identifiers, operating system, and subscription information, to understand and provide aggregate measurements of performance.
  • Data about your use of Logic Pro is used to provide, develop, and improve Logic Pro and Apple Creator Studio, and is not associated with your Apple Account. You can opt out of the use of certain analytics data for these purposes, as described below.
  • If you subscribe to Apple Creator Studio, we use information about your subscription status, tied to your Apple Account, to provide you the service and send you marketing communications and push notifications.

Opening Logic Pro

When you open Logic Pro, you can explore Apple Creator Studio services and view Logic Pro features. Apple collects insights about the session length, app version, device type, country code, random identifiers, operating system, and subscription information. This information, which is stored against a random identifier and is not associated with your Apple Account, is aggregated to provide reports in order to understand and measure the performance of Logic Pro.

Analytics Collection

Apple collects analytics information about your use of Logic Pro, including summary information about the number and types of projects you create, details about hardware and operating system specifications, performance statistics, data about how you use your devices and applications, actions that cause you to subscribe such as following an external link or exiting the app through a link to a different Apple product, the features and content in Logic Pro you view or with which you interact, your interactions with notifications, your language settings, and other diagnostic and behavioral data. If you enter Apple Creator Studio through a link from a marketing campaign, like an email or digital advertisement, Apple records information about the marketing campaign.

Apple uses this information to provide, develop, and improve the service. Apple also uses the information about the marketing campaigns to provide attribution to the marketing sources and to improve our marketing campaigns. You may opt out of the use of this analytics information for these purposes. To do so on your iPadOS device, go to Settings > Apps > Logic Pro and tap Share Analytics Data. In Logic Pro on your Mac, go to Logic Pro > Privacy & Analytics and deselect Share Analytics Data.

Resetting Your Identifier

The information set out above is stored against random, rotating identifiers that are specific to Apple Creator Studio and are not associated with your Apple Account. You can reset the identifiers on your iPadOS device by going to Settings > Apps > Logic Pro, then tapping Reset Identifier. In Logic Pro on your Mac, go to Logic Pro > Privacy & Analytics and click Reset Identifier.

Apple Creator Studio Subscription

If you purchase an Apple Creator Studio subscription, we will use personal data that is necessary to process your purchase transactions, such as your account and payment information, which you can access and change in Settings, and your purchase history. We may also use your personal data to check whether you are eligible for a free trial or special offer from Apple.

We use information about your active subscriptions to Apple services purchased through the App Store to check whether you are entitled to access additional subscribed content in Apple Creator Studio.

Communicating with You

Apple may use information about your account, such as the Apple products you own, devices registered to your account, and your subscriptions to Apple services, to send you communications about Logic Pro and other related Apple products, services, and offers that may be of interest to you. Your device serial number may be used to check eligibility for service offers. If you are in a Family Sharing group, Apple may send you communications about products, services, and offers available to you through Family Sharing. If you purchase an Apple Creator Studio subscription, we may send you emails and push notifications about new features, content, and offers available in Apple Creator Studio. You can change your email preferences and opt out of receiving these emails by going to account.apple.com. To update your notification preferences on your iPadOS device, go to Settings > Notifications. On your Mac, go to System Settings > Notifications.

Applicable Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data
 
We process your personal data in Logic Pro and your Apple Creator Studio subscription generally for performance of your contract with Apple, as necessary for providing the service, and to comply with our legal obligations. Where consent is the appropriate legal basis, we seek it in accordance with applicable local law.

Where applicable local law provides, we process personal data as necessary for purposes of our legitimate interests or those of a third party, in order to:

  • Provide Apple Creator Studio to you
  • Check eligibility for offers and send you communications about Apple Creator Studio and other related Apple products, services, and offers that may be of interest to you
  • Prevent fraud and other malicious activity

The data used includes:

  • Personal data that is necessary to process your purchase transactions, such as your account and payment information
  • Information about your active subscriptions to Apple services purchased through the App Store

Retention

We retain personal data in relation to Logic Pro and your Apple Creator Studio subscription, only for so long as we have a business need, contractual obligation, or legal requirement. Some information, such as subscription purchase history but not your stored card details, may be retained as business records even after you close your account or unsubscribe from Apple Creator Studio and Logic Pro. When assessing retention periods, we first carefully examine whether it is necessary to retain the personal data collected and, if retention is required, work to retain the personal data for the shortest possible period permissible under law.
